Genshin Impact’s Chronicled Banner raises concerns over character trial limitations

The Genshin Impact community has identified a significant oversight in the game’s Chronicled Banner system, where players cannot test characters before deciding to invest their resources. This limitation particularly affects new players trying to make informed decisions about acquiring specific 5-Star characters through the gacha system.

While HoYoverse traditionally offers combat trials for characters featured in Limited and Standard Banners, the Chronicled Banner lacks this feature entirely. The current roster of untestable characters includes notable figures such as Baizhu, Childe, Xiao, Ganyu, Shenhe, Keqing, and Qiqi, creating a barrier for players wanting to experience their gameplay mechanics firsthand.

Genshin Community advocates for expanded trial system

Players have drawn comparisons to Zenless Zone Zero, which implements permanent character trials, suggesting a similar system could benefit Genshin Impact’s larger character roster. The community particularly emphasizes how this feature could help during long rerun intervals, citing examples like Shenhe’s nearly two-year gap between appearances.

Recent updates to Genshin Impact have shown HoYoverse’s willingness to implement quality-of-life improvements, including the upcoming Version 5.5’s enhancement to the Sanctifying Elixir system for Artifact Sets. The current Chronicled Banner will remain active until February 12, coinciding with the Version 5.4 update launch.
