World of Warcraft’s Undermine zone expands The War Within with underground metropolis

World of Warcraft is expanding its latest expansion with Undermine, a vast underground Goblin metropolis arriving in Patch 11.1. This new zone continues the ongoing conflict with Xal’atath and Gallywix, centered around the damaged Dark Heart storyline.

The urban underground features several key locations, including the Incontinental Hotel, which serves as the primary hub for players beginning their subterranean journey. Slam Central Station acts as a transportation nexus, connecting Undermine to various regions across Azeroth. The zone also introduces the Demolition Dome, home to the new Cage of Carnage PvP Arena, while The Gallagio stands as the culmination point for the Liberation of Undermine raid.

Goblin Cartels shape Undermine’s political landscape

Players can align themselves weekly with one of four major Goblin Cartels, each offering unique opportunities and storylines. The Bilgewater Cartel, led by Monte Gazlowe, specializes in engineering and invention from their base in Bilgewater Flats. Former pirates turned entrepreneurs, the Blackwater Cartel operates from Blackwater Marina under Baron Revilgaz’s leadership. The Steamwheedle’s alchemists, commanded by Marin Noggenfogger, conduct their experiments in The Vatworks, while the Venture Co.’s procurement specialists work from The Heaps under Grimla Fizzlecrank’s direction. Rumors also hint at a mysterious fifth cartel yet to be revealed.

These factions collectively form the Cartels of Undermine Renown system, offering rewards including the distinctive Topskimmer Special rocket mount. The zone’s offerings extend beyond the city limits with Operation: Floodgate, a new dungeon located in the Ringing Deeps. This four-boss instance challenges players to prevent Geezle Gigazap from destroying The Waterworks and flooding Undermine.

• Big M.O.M.M.A – a prototype mech infused with Black Blood, piloted by Darkfuse enforcer Silva Stratospark.
• Demolition Duo – Keeza Quickfuse and Bront, the brain and brawn behind the “explosive restructuring” of The Waterworks.
• Swampface – a muddy plant monster awakened by Gallywix’s lackeys.
• Geezle Gigazap – the electrified mastermind of “THE PROJECT.”

Access to Undermine’s content begins with the When Opportunity Explodes quest, available from Gazlowe at the Foundation Hall. While players must complete The War Within’s level-up campaign to start this questline, the max level campaign and Lingering Shadows chapter from Patch 11.0.7 remain optional for accessing the new content.
