Pokemon TCG Pocket trade system introduces new exchange resources

The trading feature coming to Pokemon TCG Pocket will introduce two new currencies to facilitate card exchanges between players. This development adds another layer to the previously announced trading system, which already includes specific rarity restrictions for card exchanges.

Recent information from Twitter user PokeGirlLauren details these new currencies. The first is a green hourglass system that functions similarly to the Wonder Pick feature, where players spend one unit per trade. These hourglasses regenerate every 12 hours, creating a time-based limitation on trading frequency.

The second currency, called “feature artwork tokens,” correlates with card rarity for trading purposes. The higher the card’s rarity, the more tokens required for the exchange. However, the specific mechanics and acquisition methods for these tokens remain undisclosed.

Pokemon TCG Pocket trading features spark player discussions

The revelation of these new currencies has generated mixed reactions within the player base. Some express concerns about potential monetization affecting token availability, while others note their surprise that Shinedust won’t play a role in trading, unlike Stardust in Pokemon GO. Some players view the system positively, suggesting it maintains free trading while encouraging continued pack openings.

The trading feature launches on Tuesday, January 28, preceding the release of the “Space-Time Smackdown” set on January 29. This second collection shifts focus from Kanto Pokemon to Sinnoh region creatures, featuring ex variants of legendary Pokemon like Palkia and Dialga.
