The development team behind Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has issued a response to growing community concerns regarding their upcoming trading feature. While trading has been one of the most requested additions since the game’s launch, the recently revealed implementation details have sparked debate among players.
On January 17, the development team unveiled their plans for the trading system, which comes with several limitations. Players will only be able to trade cards from the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island sets, and exchanges must occur between cards of identical rarity. Additionally, each trade will require the use of a yet-to-be-revealed consumable item.
Through their official Twitter account, the developers acknowledged player concerns while urging the community to reserve judgment until they can experience the feature firsthand. The team expressed their commitment to incorporating player feedback into future updates to enhance the mobile trading card game experience.
The trading restrictions have become a focal point of player discussions. Currently, the tradeable card pool is limited to regular pulls from the three Genetic Apex sets and the Mythical Island mini-set, despite plans to introduce additional booster packs within two weeks. Cards above one-star rarity and promotional cards will be excluded from trading at launch.
The community has also raised questions about the accessibility of trading items. As Pokemon TCG Pocket operates on a free-to-play model with optional purchases like Poke Gold for pack openings and stamina refreshes, some players worry these items might be locked behind microtransactions. These concerns are particularly prevalent given existing skepticism about the value proposition of the game’s Premium Pass subscription, which offers benefits such as exclusive promotional cards.
