Warzone Developer Announces Critical Weapon Updates for XM4 and PPSh-41
Raven Software prepares significant balance changes for two popular Warzone weapons in early February.
Raven Software has revealed plans to implement balance changes for two prominent weapons in Call of Duty: Warzone. The update, scheduled for the week of February 3, will specifically target the XM4 Assault Rifle and PPSh-41 SMG, potentially reshaping the game’s current meta.
The announcement comes shortly after the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2, which began on January 28. The PPSh-41 SMG, recently introduced to the game, has quickly gained attention for its rapid fire rate and high mobility characteristics. Similarly, the XM4 Assault Rifle has established itself as a popular choice among players, particularly when paired with the PPSh-41.
According to Raven Software’s official Twitter account, the adjustments will arrive early in the week, with detailed patch notes to be published on the developer’s Trello board. The studio emphasized their commitment to monitoring Season 2’s launch as they finalize these weapon modifications, though specific details about whether the changes will strengthen or weaken the weapons remain undisclosed.
The community has already begun speculating about the nature of these upcoming changes. Some players anticipate modifications to the PPSh-41’s muzzle flash and smoke effects to enhance visibility when using iron sights. Others have expressed interest in potential adjustments to the XM4’s magazine capacity and improvements to the PPSh-41’s handling characteristics.
These weapon adjustments precede a scheduled collaboration event between Call of Duty and The Terminator, running from February 6 to 20. During this period, players can earn exclusive rewards through combat achievements in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone, providing an immediate testing ground for the rebalanced weapons.
