Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 Charts Its Course for Future Content Evolution
Crackshell outlines development priorities and delivers crucial patches for their latest dungeon crawler.
Crackshell’s newly released roguelike action RPG Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 is hitting its stride with rapid post-launch support, as the developer rolls out its second patch just days after the game’s initial update. The latest update, Build 117, arrives with enhanced multiplayer features and critical bug fixes for the dungeon crawler.
The new patch brings several quality-of-life improvements to the multiplayer experience, including the addition of player levels to the HUD interface and missing combo descriptions in the library menu. Players will also notice new confirmation prompts when exiting games, adding an extra layer of security to prevent accidental session terminations.
Build 117 addresses several multiplayer-specific issues that players encountered since launch. Notable fixes include preventing clients from claiming trinkets intended for hosts and resolving the Thunderbird’s unintended damage output during player spawns. The patch also corrects a bug where multiplayer clients could access character classes based on the host’s unlocks rather than their own progression.
While Crackshell hasn’t unveiled a formal roadmap, the studio has outlined its immediate development priorities. The team is focusing on addressing player feedback, improving multiplayer connectivity, and implementing modding support, with translation features being the first step in that direction.
Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 expands upon its predecessor’s formula by increasing multiplayer support from three to four players. The game centers around the mysterious Dark Citadel, where players venture through procedurally generated levels to acquire powerful equipment and unlock new abilities. Each successful expedition contributes to the development of players’ towns, enhancement of gear, and character progression, ensuring no two runs feel identical.
