Marvel Snap Returns to US App Stores Following Brief Service Disruption

Second Dinner has announced that Marvel Snap will resume operations in the United States following a temporary suspension linked to the recent TikTok ban. The collectible card game, which has garnered significant popularity since its 2022 launch, faced an unexpected removal from US digital stores due to its connection with ByteDance.

The situation emerged when the “Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act” took effect on January 19, 2025, initially targeting TikTok. Marvel Snap was caught in the crossfire because its publisher, Nuverse, operates as a ByteDance subsidiary. This connection led to the game’s removal from US digital marketplaces and prevented players from accessing the service.

In a recent update, Second Dinner confirmed that Marvel Snap’s services would be restored within 12 hours, with full functionality expected to return by January 21. This swift resolution appears to align with TikTok’s own rapid reinstatement in the US market.

The game’s return coincides with Trump’s announcement regarding TikTok’s restoration of services, though questions remain about the long-term implications of the existing legislation that initially prompted the ban.

Before this disruption, Marvel Snap had implemented several player-friendly updates, including doubled drop rates for Series 3 cards in Collector’s Reserves. This enhancement significantly reduces the time required for new players to build their card collections. The game also increased Token payouts from Spotlight Cache from 1000 to 2000 Tokens, alongside various bug fixes and card effect adjustments.
