KSI’s Boxing Return Hits Snag as Former Soccer Star Withdraws Over Personal Remarks
Ex-England footballer Wayne Bridge exits anticipated boxing match following controversial face-off incident.
The anticipated boxing comeback of YouTube star KSI has encountered an unexpected setback as former England footballer Wayne Bridge has withdrawn from their scheduled March 29 bout. The cancellation comes in the wake of controversial comments made by KSI during their recent face-off at a Misfits Boxing event.
The dispute emerged when KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olatunji, made inflammatory remarks about Bridge’s personal life during their confrontation. Bridge took to Instagram Stories to announce his withdrawal, stating that the comments “crossed a line” and emphasizing his role as a “family man first.” While expressing interest in future challenges, the former soccer player made it clear he wouldn’t participate in exchanges of that nature.
This marks another setback for KSI’s boxing career, which began in 2018 with a victory over fellow YouTuber Joe Weller. The social media personality had established himself in the boxing scene through notable matches against Logan Paul, including a professional bout that he won via split decision. However, his last appearance in the ring resulted in his first defeat against professional boxer Tommy Fury in October 2023.
The cancellation adds to KSI’s recent string of fight postponements. Just five months ago, he withdrew from a planned 2-versus-1 tag team match against Slim Albaher and Anthony Taylor due to injury. While KSI has yet to comment on Bridge’s withdrawal, his previous expressions of interest in facing controversial figure and former kickboxer Andrew Tate suggest potential alternative matchups could be in the works.
