Firaxis Games and 2K have announced a significant milestone for Sid Meier’s Civilization 7, as the game has officially achieved gold status. This crucial development milestone indicates that the latest entry in the beloved strategy series is ready for manufacturing ahead of its February 11, 2025 release date.
The iconic turn-based strategy franchise, which first captivated players in 1991, is preparing to launch its seventh mainline installment across multiple platforms, including PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. In a notable advancement for the series, Civilization 7 has become the first entry to receive Steam Deck verification, ensuring optimal performance on Valve‘s handheld device.
This new chapter brings substantial innovations to the franchise’s formula. Players can now experience evolved combat mechanics and a revolutionary approach to leadership, where historical figures are no longer bound to specific nations. Familiar elements from previous entries make their return, including iconic wonders such as the Terracotta Army and Mount Kilimanjaro. Players can choose between following historical accuracy or forging their own unique path through history, offering unprecedented freedom in shaping their civilization’s destiny.
The game launches with multiple editions available for purchase, ranging from the Standard Edition to the premium Collector’s Edition at $279.99. The Collector’s Edition includes exclusive items such as a functional Passage of Time clock, Scout figure, and Yield Icon Patch Set. Those who pre-order the Standard Edition will receive bonus content featuring the Tecumseh Leader and the Shawnee Civilization.
