Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Welcomes Snowy Racing Sequel with Unique Twist
Lonely Mountains series returns with a fresh winter sports take on its acclaimed downhill formula.
Microsoft‘s premium gaming subscription service just added another day-one release to its growing library. Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, the winter sports follow-up to the acclaimed Lonely Mountains: Downhill, is now available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
Developer Megagon Industries has traded bikes for skis in this fresh take on their successful formula. The new title maintains the core elements that made its predecessor a standout in the off-road racing genre while introducing an entirely new winter sports dimension to the gameplay.
Snow Riders challenges players to navigate treacherous mountain descents with a combination of speed and finesse. The game features a progression system where successfully completing challenges unlocks new equipment and mountain locations. Players must demonstrate quick reflexes and courage as they tackle rough terrain and dramatic cliff jumps in their pursuit of the perfect run.
Currently, the game is exclusively available to PC Game Pass and Ultimate-tier subscribers, following Microsoft’s revised release strategy implemented in summer 2024. Ultimate members can also access the game through Xbox Cloud Gaming, adding another way to experience these snowy slopes.
Looking ahead, Microsoft’s gaming service has several titles lined up for the remainder of January. Starbound and Gigantic: Rampage Edition arrive on January 22, followed by Eternal Strands and Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap on January 28, with Shady Part of Me joining on January 29.
The service will bid farewell to several games on January 31, including Anuchard, Darkest Dungeon, and Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem. Xbox Game Pass Standard subscribers might see Snow Riders added to their library between July and December 2025, based on Microsoft’s typical six to twelve-month delayed release window for day-one titles.
