Pokemon Unite’s Galarian Rapidash Brings Unicorn Magic to the Speedster Role
The psychic-fairy Pokemon brings unique abilities and playstyle to the MOBA’s growing roster.
Pokemon Unite is expanding its roster with the enchanting Galarian Rapidash, bringing a fresh twist to the game’s Speedster category. This regional variant trades the classic fiery mane for a majestic unicorn-like appearance, complete with a colorful streaked mane, pale blue eyes, and an impressive horn.
Originally introduced in Pokemon Sword and Shield, this Psychic/Fairy-type Pokemon represents only the second regional variant to join Pokemon Unite’s battlefield, following Alolan Ninetales’ addition in July 2021. Unlike its Kantonian counterpart, Galarian Rapidash embraces a more mystical nature, perfectly suited for its new role.
During development, Galarian Rapidash underwent a significant change, shifting from an All-Rounder to a Speedster classification – a unique transformation in the game’s development history. The character’s moveset is expected to include Pastel Veil as its passive ability, with Confusion and Tackle as starting moves. At level 5, players can choose between Fairy Wind and Dazzling Gleam, while level 7 offers options between Smart Strike and Agility. The Pokemon’s Unite Move has been identified as Triad Blitz.
Galarian Rapidash Impact on Pokemon Unite’s Meta
This new addition will bring the total number of Speedsters to 10, further diversifying the jungler role in Pokemon Unite. Speedsters are crucial for map control, typically focusing on the central area to quickly gain levels and support teammates in other lanes. Their high mobility and farming potential make them essential for securing objectives and maintaining map presence.
The introduction of Galarian Rapidash pushes Pokemon Unite’s playable roster beyond 70 characters, following Tinkaton’s December 12 release. Looking ahead, Miraidon is anticipated to join the lineup in late February, further expanding the game’s diverse character selection.
