Insomniac Games Founder Ted Price Charts New Course as Leadership Evolves

Insomniac Games is entering a new chapter as Ted Price, the company’s president and founder, has revealed his plans to step down from his role. Price, who has been the driving force behind iconic franchises like Ratchet and Clank, Spyro the Dragon, and Marvel’s Spider-Man, will conclude his remarkable 30-year journey with the studio in March 2025.

Since its establishment in 1994, Insomniac Games has become a powerhouse in the gaming industry, largely due to its strong partnership with PlayStation. The studio’s excellence was formally recognized when PlayStation acquired it in 2019, following the tremendous success of Marvel’s Spider-Man. Under Price’s leadership, the studio has maintained an impressive output of high-quality titles throughout the PS5 era.

Price shared his retirement plans through a heartfelt message on the Sony Interactive Entertainment website. Before discussing his departure, he addressed the challenges faced by Insomniac employees affected by the Los Angeles wildfires, emphasizing the studio’s commitment to supporting its team members during difficult times.

Insomniac Games Unveils New Leadership Trio to Guide Studio’s Future

  • Chad Dezern
  • Ryan Schneider
  • Jen Huang

The transition plan reveals a carefully selected leadership team consisting of three veteran Insomniac employees. Chad Dezern, who joined in 1998 as an environment artist and rose to Head of Creative, brings extensive creative expertise. Ryan Schneider’s journey with the studio began during the PS2 era in marketing and communications, while Jen Huang has served as CFO and Head of Finance for eight years.

This shift to a multi-leader structure mirrors PlayStation’s own dual-CEO approach, suggesting a strategic alignment with their parent company’s management philosophy. Each new co-head brings distinct expertise from their long tenure at Insomniac, positioning the studio to maintain its creative momentum and operational excellence.
