Black Ops 6 extends limited-time Squid Game collaboration

The ongoing Squid Game collaboration in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone has received an extension from Activision, now running until January 28 to align with Season 2’s launch. The crossover event, which began on January 3, brought an array of themed content including cosmetic items, game modes, and weapon blueprints to the popular shooter.

The collaboration’s reception has been mixed among the Call of Duty community. While the event introduced exciting new content, players expressed concerns about the monetization strategy. The premium Squid Game event pass, priced at 1,100 COD Points, became a particular point of contention. Despite offering a free tier, premium content like the coveted Front Man operator skin remained exclusive to paid pass holders, adding to existing concerns about the game’s multiple monetization systems.

Squid Game rewards and content availability in Black Ops 6

Players pursuing the event’s rewards need to accumulate 356,000 XP to unlock all items. While many dedicated players completed these requirements within days, the extension provides additional time for others to earn their rewards. The extended deadline appears in the in-game event tab, though Activision has yet to make an official announcement.

The collaboration features various store bundles alongside the event pass content. Players can purchase iconic character skins including the Pink Guards, Masked VIPs, and Young-hee through separate bundles. The event pass specifically offers the Front Man, Player 115, and Player 006 operator skins, though the availability of these bundles beyond the event remains unclear.

The extension allows players more time to experience themed modes like Red Light, Green Light, and unlock premium content such as the Front Man operator skin. This particular cosmetic sparked discussions within the community, with some players drawing comparisons to the controversial Roze skin from Modern Warfare, citing potential visibility advantages in-game.
