Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Gun Game Mode Makes Its Long-Awaited Return
The fan-favorite party mode is set to join Black Ops 6’s lineup alongside Season 2’s fresh content.
Treyarch is bringing back one of Call of Duty’s most beloved party modes to Black Ops 6. The developer has confirmed Gun Game’s return as part of the upcoming Season 2 update, scheduled for January 28.
The announcement came through the official Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2 launch trailer, which showcases the mode alongside other upcoming content. While Black Ops 6 has already impressed players with its engaging campaign and multiplayer offerings, the absence of Gun Game has been a notable gap in its lineup.
Gun Game’s legacy in the Call of Duty franchise dates back to the original Black Ops, where it quickly became a fan favorite. The mode features a unique free-for-all format where players begin with identical weapons. Each successful elimination advances the player to the next weapon in the sequence, with victory going to the first player to secure a kill with the final weapon.
Season 2 Brings More Than Just Gun Game
The seasonal update isn’t just about the return of Gun Game. Players can look forward to five new maps, additional weapons, fresh operators, and various other content additions. This follows the recent reintroduction of Gunfight mode, which was another highly requested feature among the Black Ops community.
While Treyarch hasn’t revealed specific details about potential changes or tweaks to Gun Game’s classic formula in Black Ops 6, veterans of the series will be familiar with its core mechanics. Though not as mainstream as Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, or Domination, Gun Game has maintained its position as a distinctive party mode that adds variety to the multiplayer experience.
