Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Brings Back Fan-Favorite Weapons in Upcoming Season Update
Classic PPSH-41 and FN FAL make their return amid anticipated gameplay improvements.
Activision‘s latest promotional materials for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone’s Season 2 have revealed an exciting surprise for long-time fans. Two legendary weapons from the franchise’s history are making their comeback: the PPSH-41 submachine gun and the FN FAL assault rifle.
The revelation comes after Treyarch Studios’ recent preview of the upcoming Zombies map, The Tomb. While fans initially speculated about the return of the MP40, the promotional images clearly showcase the PPSH-41 as the “iconic” submachine gun previously teased by the developer.
Call of Duty Season 2 Aims to Address Recent Player Concerns
The new season’s promotional artwork features operators in dynamic action, with one wielding the FN FAL assault rifle and another equipped with the PPSH-41 submachine gun during an intense breach sequence on the Vondel map. While specific details about weapon availability remain under wraps, their presence in the promotional material confirms their upcoming integration into the game.
This weapon update arrives at a crucial time for the franchise. Steam statistics indicate a significant decline in the player base, with Black Ops 6 losing over 50% of its players since its October launch. The decline largely stems from ongoing issues with cheaters in Ranked Play, while Warzone players report increasingly challenging gameplay conditions.
Looking ahead, Season 2 promises substantial improvements across both titles. Black Ops 6 players can expect new challenge tracking features, updated player collision mechanics, additional maps, and fresh game modes. Meanwhile, Warzone’s focus will shift primarily to addressing technical issues and implementing bug fixes, resulting in a temporary reduction in new content.
