CD Projekt Red enhances Cyberpunk 2077 with comprehensive photo mode fixes

CD Projekt Red has released patch 2.21 for Cyberpunk 2077, introducing significant improvements across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC versions of the game. The update primarily focuses on enhancing the recently overhauled photo mode while adding DLSS 4 support for PC players with compatible hardware.

This release follows December’s substantial patch 2.2, which brought new vehicle customization options and the hidden Balatro quest. While the development team has largely moved on to other projects, including The Witcher 4 and a Cyberpunk sequel, they continue to refine the Night City experience with targeted improvements.

Photo Mode Overhaul Leads Extensive Update List

The update’s most notable improvements address the game’s photo mode functionality. Players can now position Nibbles and Adam Smasher in aerial and underwater shots, with fixes for character positioning, lighting systems, and camera controls. The patch also resolves issues with facial expressions, character presets, and various UI elements throughout the photo creation process.

PC players gain access to DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation for GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards, promising significant performance improvements through AI-generated frame technology. The feature will activate on January 30th, offering up to triple the traditionally rendered frames and introducing an enhanced Transformer model for improved visual stability.

Vehicle customization also received attention, with fixes for CrystalCoat textures and color inconsistencies. The update addresses several character creation issues, including randomizer settings preservation and piercing color options. Additional improvements target quest-specific problems, NPC behaviors, and platform-specific issues for both console and PC versions.

Cyberpunk 2077’s continued support comes after achieving remarkable commercial success, with 30 million copies sold since launch and its Phantom Liberty expansion reaching 8 million sales. The game has significantly evolved from its troubled 2020 release, when technical issues led to its temporary removal from the PlayStation Store.
