Code Violet Emerges as Spiritual Successor to Classic Dinosaur Horror
A new PS5 exclusive brings back dinosaur survival horror with a modern twist.
TeamKill Media is bringing dinosaur horror back to gaming with their PlayStation 5 exclusive Code Violet. Drawing inspiration from Capcom‘s beloved Dino Crisis series, this new title aims to revive the thrilling combination of survival horror and prehistoric predators.
The game follows protagonist Violet Sinclair as she navigates through a futuristic facility overrun with dinosaurs. Players will encounter various prehistoric threats, including deadly velociraptors and a menacing T-Rex, with the latter featured in an intense vehicular chase sequence. Following survival horror traditions, the game offers players the choice between combat and stealth when dealing with these ancient adversaries.
From what the announcement trailer reveals, Code Violet adopts an over-the-shoulder camera perspective reminiscent of modern horror games. The protagonist comes equipped with an arsenal of weapons to fend off dinosaur attacks, though strategic avoidance might often prove the safer option. The game also features a male character whose design bears a striking resemblance to iconic horror game characters.
Initial community response to the trailer has been mixed, with particular criticism directed at the game’s visual presentation and narrative elements. The graphics appear to fall short of current PS5 exclusive standards, leading to concerns about the overall production quality.
Code Violet marks TeamKill Media’s latest venture following their previous horror title, Quantum Error. The studio has positioned this new project as a spiritual successor to Dino Crisis, a series that has been dormant since 2003. The game is scheduled for release in July 2025 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive title.
