Cody Rhodes may have to turn heel if 39-year-old superstar returns to WWE after 7 years
Wrestling veteran Jim Cornette speculates that Cody Rhodes might need to adopt a heel persona if his wife, Brandi Rhodes, makes a comeback to WWE. Brandi had a brief stint with the company in 2011, returned in 2013, and left again in 2016 alongside Cody. Since then, the 39-year-old has wrestled in various promotions, including IMPACT Wrestling and AEW. Recently, Brandi hinted at a return to confront Rhea Ripley, the SmackDown Women’s Champion, who had a face-off with Cody on RAW.
On a recent episode of Jim Cornette’s Drive Thru, co-host Brian Last discussed the potential impact of Brandi’s return on Cody’s on-screen character. Last suggested that Cody might struggle to maintain his babyface persona with Brandi’s presence, a sentiment with which Cornette agreed.
Rhea Ripley, a dominant force in WWE, responded to Brandi’s tweet hinting at a confrontation with a GIF of herself performing DX’s “s*ck it” gesture. Brandi has never competed in a WWE ring, primarily serving as a ring announcer and backstage interviewer during her time with the company. The potential impact of her return on Cody’s character and the dynamics within WWE remains to be seen.
