Diablo 4 developers stay silent on Elon Musk’s account boosting allegations

Gaming giants Blizzard and Grinding Gear Games have maintained silence regarding accusations that Elon Musk’s gaming accounts may have been boosted in both Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO, who frequently shares his gaming experiences and claims exceptional skill levels, has recently faced scrutiny over his proclaimed achievements, including a stated rank of 19th on Diablo 4’s global leaderboard.

The controversy gained traction after viewers of Musk’s gaming livestreams noticed discrepancies between his apparent understanding of basic game mechanics and his high-ranking status. These observations led to allegations that the tech mogul might have paid for account boosting services in both games, prompting calls for disciplinary action.

Gaming community pushes back against special treatment

IGN’s investigation revealed that both gaming companies have declined to address whether they plan to take action against Musk’s accounts. Blizzard specifically stated they do not discuss “individual player enforcement” matters publicly. Both games explicitly prohibit account boosting in their terms of service, with violations potentially resulting in suspension or permanent account termination.

The companies’ silence has sparked criticism from the gaming community, with players arguing that it compromises the games’ competitive integrity. Many fans emphasize that account boosting typically results in swift punishment, regardless of the player’s status. Notable gaming personality Asmongold has publicly challenged Musk to validate his gaming accomplishments.

Despite the ongoing controversy, Musk continues to expand his presence in the gaming industry. The billionaire previously expressed interest in acquiring Hasbro after criticizing a Dungeons and Dragons writer, and has discussed plans to establish an AI-focused game studio. His contentious relationship with the gaming community shows no signs of resolution as the account boosting allegations remain unaddressed.
