EA Vancouver has announced a significant roster expansion for EA Sports UFC 5, with rising UFC Flyweight prospect Asu Almabayev joining the playable fighter lineup through Update 1.19 on January 30. The update marks the latest enhancement to the mixed martial arts gaming franchise since its 2023 release.
Almabayev brings an impressive professional record of 21 wins and 2 losses to the virtual octagon, including 4 victories within the UFC. The 31-year-old fighter’s digital debut arrives strategically timed, preceding his upcoming bout against Allan Nascimento scheduled for March 1.
The update will be available for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms starting at 1 PM ET. EA Vancouver has scheduled a brief one-hour server maintenance period beginning at 12 PM ET to facilitate the deployment. This release follows the game’s recent addition to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, potentially expanding its player base.
Beyond the roster expansion, Update 1.19 addresses several technical aspects of the game. Notable improvements include a fix for a stamina-related bug affecting muscle-modified transitions and submissions, along with solutions for various visual issues involving clothing items and body types.
EA Vancouver has also confirmed the introduction of new alter ego options in the coming week, though specific fighter details remain under wraps. These alternative fighter versions will be available for purchase through the in-game store upon release.
