Epic Games Store mobile expansion brings free games and developer incentives

Epic Games is expanding its mobile storefront with new third-party titles and the introduction of free games for Android and iOS users. The platform’s growth comes with additional features and developer-friendly policies aimed at strengthening its position in the mobile gaming market.

Following the successful mobile launch of Fall Guys in mid-2024, Epic’s marketplace is now adding 20 new third-party games to its catalog. Currently available titles include Blade of God X: Orisols, Evoland 2, and LEGO Fortnite: Brick Life. The platform is also set to welcome upcoming releases such as Solo Leveling: Arise, Eastern Exorcist, Trailer Park Boys: Greasy Money, MR Racer, and the Double Dragon Trilogy.

In a significant move, Epic has launched its first free game offerings on mobile. Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee and Bloons TD 6 are available at no cost until February 20. The company plans to maintain monthly free game releases, with intentions to transition to weekly offerings later in the year.

The mobile store now features Epic Login functionality, enabling seamless player status synchronization across Android and iOS platforms. An auto-update feature has also been implemented to streamline the gaming experience. While the store is accessible worldwide on Android devices, iOS availability remains limited to European Union users due to Apple’s restrictions in other regions.

Epic’s new developer benefits target platform growth

To attract more developers, Epic has introduced several financial incentives. The platform offers an 88/12 revenue split for processed payments and eliminates fees on third-party transactions. Games using Unreal Engine will see a reduced royalty rate from 5% to 3.5% when published on Epic Games simultaneously with or before other platforms. Additionally, Epic will cover Apple’s Core Technology Fee, which imposes a €0.50 charge per download after reaching one million downloads, addressing what Epic describes as a significant barrier for developers considering the platform.
