Far Cry New Dawn Announces 60 FPS Upgrade for PS5, Xbox Series X/S
Ubisoft’s post-apocalyptic shooter receives performance enhancement for current-generation consoles.
Ubisoft has announced a significant performance upgrade for Far Cry New Dawn, bringing 60 frames per second capability to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The 2019 post-apocalyptic spin-off joins the publisher’s growing list of older titles receiving current-generation enhancements.
The announcement came through Ubisoft Support’s official social media channels, detailing specific implementation requirements for different platforms. Xbox Series console owners will need to temporarily disable the FPS Boost feature starting January 31, 2025, at 4 PM PST to prepare for the update. PlayStation 5 users can expect a more straightforward implementation with no preliminary steps required.
While Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed an exact release date for the performance patch, industry observers note its timing may coincide with the game’s scheduled arrival on Xbox Game Pass on February 4, 2025. Far Cry New Dawn, which continues the narrative of Far Cry 5 in a post-apocalyptic setting, focuses on survival and resource management in a transformed world.
This update aligns with Ubisoft’s recent pattern of enhancing its back catalog. In November 2024, the publisher delivered similar performance improvements to Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, originally released in 2015. The company has also expanded feature support for other Far Cry titles, recently adding achievements to Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 6 on Steam.
