Final Fantasy 14’s Latest Patch Brings Major Role Quest Finale and PvP Adjustments

Final Fantasy 14’s latest update has arrived, bringing the anticipated conclusion to the Dawntrail Role Quest series along with significant PvP balance changes. The update, labeled as Patch 7.16, introduces the final chapter in the ongoing conflict with the Passage of the Unbound gang and their leader, the cunning Viera named Apyaahi.

Players who have completed all five previous Dawntrail Role Quest chains and the main story quest “Dawntrail” can now access the new quest “Picking Up the Torch” in Tuliyollal. Upon completing this final challenge, players will receive two exclusive rewards: the “Pose of the Unbound” emote and the Bright Bustle Orchestrion Roll.

The update also addresses player feedback regarding the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) alliance raid. A new exchange system has been implemented, allowing players to trade Clouddark Demimateria 1 for Clouddark Demimateria 2 at a 5-to-1 ratio through the NPC Uah’shepya in Solution Nine. Square Enix has also corrected the labeling of two Cloud of Darkness attacks, Lateral-core Phaser and Core-lateral Phaser, which were previously mislabeled.

In the PvP realm, Crystalline Conflict Season 13 launches with numerous job adjustments. Several classes received significant changes, with Viper, Machinist, and Black Mage seeing offensive capability improvements. Meanwhile, Ninja, Astrologian, and Scholar underwent defensive adjustments to better balance their capabilities. The update also improves the responsiveness of various PvP actions, including Recuperate and Purify, resulting in more fluid combat encounters.

Technical improvements include fixes for FPS drops on the macOS game client when using specific controllers, and various other system optimizations. The update requires approximately 303 MB of storage space, though console requirements may vary.
