Force Multiplier Studios Announces First-Ever Kickboxer Video Game
New studio formed by Call of Duty veterans partners with Kickboxer filmmakers for martial arts game adaptation.
Force Multiplier Studios, a newly established game development company founded by veteran developers from Call of Duty, Borderlands, and Halo, has announced the development of the first official Kickboxer video game. The studio is collaborating with filmmakers Dimitri Logothetis and Rob Hickman, who oversee the rebooted Kickboxer film trilogy, to bring the martial arts franchise into the gaming sphere.
The project marks a significant milestone for the Kickboxer franchise, which has maintained a strong presence in action cinema since its 1989 debut. Force Multiplier Studios has secured licenses for multiple characters and likenesses from the movie series, though specific details remain undisclosed at this early stage of development.
Development Vision and Features
In discussions with IGN, Force Multiplier Studios’ Chief Creative Officer emphasized the team’s commitment to creating an “intense, high-octane brawler.” The studio aims to innovate within the fighting game genre, incorporating features such as environmental combat and diverse international locations.
Logothetis, director of Kickboxer: Armageddon, confirmed the development team’s focus on maintaining the franchise’s authenticity while adapting it effectively for the gaming medium. The project intends to showcase recognizable characters and locations familiar to fans of the movie series.
While Force Multiplier Studios has not revealed specific gameplay mechanics or confirmed the involvement of original star Jean-Claude Van Damme, additional information about the project is expected throughout 2025. The game represents the latest evolution in the franchise’s history, which began with Van Damme’s portrayal of Kurt Sloane, a fighter seeking vengeance against Tong Po after his brother’s paralysis in a kickboxing match.
