Forza Horizon 5 Leads Microsoft’s Gaming Push to Switch 2
Microsoft’s racing flagship reportedly heads to Nintendo’s next console amid broader gaming expansion.
Microsoft‘s acclaimed racing game Forza Horizon 5 is reportedly being developed for Nintendo‘s upcoming Switch 2 console, according to reliable industry sources. The potential port marks a significant expansion for the Xbox franchise and could signal the beginning of a broader Microsoft presence on Nintendo’s next-generation platform.
The racing title’s journey to Nintendo’s hardware follows a pattern of platform expansion for the Forza series. Initially an Xbox exclusive when launched in 2005, the franchise began reaching PC players in 2015. Most recently, Microsoft announced Forza Horizon 5’s arrival on PlayStation 5, scheduled for spring 2025.
Microsoft’s Broader Plans for Switch 2
Industry sources suggest Forza Horizon 5 represents just the beginning of Microsoft’s software strategy for the Switch 2. Brazilian journalist Pedro “PH Brazil” Henrique Lutti Lippe reported in January 2025 that Microsoft has multiple titles in development for Nintendo’s next console. Spanish YouTuber Extas1s, known for accurate Xbox Game Pass leaks, corroborated these claims while also suggesting that Doom: The Dark Ages is among the planned releases.
Other major Xbox titles reportedly heading to the Switch 2 include Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Starfield, Fallout 4, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. While the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 is confirmed for release by June 2025, the timing of the Switch 2 version remains unclear, particularly as Nintendo’s new console awaits an official launch date. The first substantial information about the Switch 2’s game lineup is expected during a Nintendo Direct presentation scheduled for April 2.
