Genshin Impact Version 5.4 reward system shifts focus to event-based earnings

HoYoverse has unveiled a detailed breakdown of Primogem rewards for Genshin Impact’s Version 5.4, revealing a significant shift in how players can earn the valuable in-game currency. The upcoming update maintains event-based activities as a primary source of rewards, despite featuring fewer overall earning opportunities compared to previous versions.

Following the recent Special Program livestream, which announced the debut of new Inazuma five-star character Mizuki alongside reruns for Furina, Sigewinne, and Wriothesley, community member Hiragara has compiled a comprehensive analysis of the update’s reward structure. The breakdown reveals that limited-time events will provide 2,420 Primogems, making them the second-largest source of free currency in Version 5.4.

Genshin Impact’s Inazuma festival brings new rewards structure

The update introduces the Enchanted Tales of the Mikawa Festival, bringing players back to Inazuma and featuring appearances from beloved characters like Raiden Shogun and Yae Miko. Free-to-play players can accumulate up to 9,250 Primogems throughout the update, equivalent to 57 wishes on the gacha banners. Players with Welkin Moon subscriptions can earn up to 13,030 Primogems, while those with both Welkin Moon and Battle Pass can reach 14,350 Primogems.

Notable changes in Version 5.4 include the absence of new areas and achievements, traditionally significant sources of Primogems. Daily commissions will contribute 2,520 Primogems, while the Spiral Abyss offers 1,600 Primogems for players who can complete its challenges. The Imaginarium event adds another 800 Primogems to the pool, with various other activities such as trial plays, promotional codes, and update compensation providing additional opportunities.

The community response to Version 5.4’s Primogem distribution has been mixed, with some players expressing concern about the reduced earning potential compared to previous updates. This adjustment comes as Mizuki prepares to join the standard banner rotation after Version 5.5, marking another evolution in the game’s character availability system.
