Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Takes Bold Steps to Foster Healthy Community Discussions
Warhorse Studios implements new forum guidelines while standing firm on creative decisions.
Warhorse Studios has taken proactive steps to maintain a healthy community atmosphere by revising the Steam forum guidelines for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The updated code of conduct, announced on January 17, addresses the game’s mature themes while establishing clear boundaries for community discussions.
The medieval RPG sequel, which continues Henry’s story in a world twice the size of its predecessor, has garnered significant attention ahead of its February 4, 2025 release. Warhorse Studios has already distributed review codes to critics four weeks before launch, demonstrating confidence in their product while allowing time for potential refinements.
In their announcement, the developers expressed gratitude for the community’s passionate engagement while emphasizing the importance of maintaining a welcoming environment. The new guidelines specifically address issues such as excessive profanity, discriminatory behavior, and harassment, reflecting the game’s PEGI 18 rating that accounts for mature content including violence and drug depictions.
The timing of these guidelines coincides with recent discussions surrounding the game’s inclusive content. Creative Director Daniel Vavra has defended the studio’s approach, maintaining that historical authenticity remains intact while incorporating diverse storytelling elements. The updated forum rules specifically note that while the game explores historical themes, modern political and religious debates should be conducted elsewhere.
These developments have sparked international attention, with reports suggesting potential distribution challenges in Saudi Arabia, similar to situations faced by other major titles like Final Fantasy 16 and The Last of Us Part 2. While neither Saudi authorities nor Warhorse have officially confirmed any restrictions, the studio has stated they haven’t modified their content to meet specific regional guidelines.
