Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End on Prime Video: Full list of cast
Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End gets a Halloween premiere on streaming as it drops on Prime Video on October 31, 2024. It’s an action survival adventure film that promises gripping action, tension, and both physical and emotional survival in a world ravaged by a rabid infection.
Per the official logline, Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End follows a man named Manel, played by Francisco Ortiz, and his cat as they take refuge at home to survive a rabies-like pandemic. However, they soon have to come out of isolation to find food and safer places to live to truly survive and face all kinds of dangers along the way.
Carles Torrens, whose credit includes Pet and Apartment 143, directs the film with a screenplay that Angel Agudo wrote based on Manel Loureiro’s best-seller of the same name. Narcos: Mexico‘s Jose Maria Yazpik, Iria del Rio, Berta Vazquez and others join Ortiz in the cast list.
Main cast and characters in Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End
1) Francisco Ortiz as Manel
The Spanish actor, who plays police inspector Sancho in Memento Mori, stars in the upcoming Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End.
He’s playing Manel in the newest Prime Video Spanish movie, a man who gets depressed after losing a loved one. He isolates himself inside his home in Galicia with his cat Lucullus while the outbreak turns people into rabid animals.
Outside of Memento Mori, Ortiz has worked in a handful of Spanish titles on television and the big screen. Some of his best works include El secreto de Puente Viejo, Amar es para siempre, Golpe maestro and A queue estas esprerando.
2) Jose Maria Yazpik as Pritchenko
The Mexican actor, who played the Amazonian spider-man Santiago in Madame Web, joins the Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End cast as Viktor Pritchenko, aka Prit. He’s a Ukrainian helicopter pilot in the movie.
Yazpik has worked in over 50 different titles, although he’s best-remembered as Amado Carillo Fuentes in the Narcos TV series before reprising the role in Narcos: Mexico. He was also in Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Everybody Loves Somebody and Greedy People.
3) Iria del Rio as Julia
The Catalonia, Spain-born actress, who won Best Actress for Los dinosaurios ya no vien aqui at the Alcala de Henares Short Film Festival, plays Julia in Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End.
Del Rio’s name is attached to over 30 projects on the big screen and television, with some of her best works being Love in Difficult Times, Cable Girls, Les de l’hoquei and Fuerza de paz. She also played Ana in the newly released Los años nuevos TV series.
4) Berta Vazquez as Lucia
The Ukrainian actress, best known for playing La Rizos in Vis a vis, returns to the silver screen as Lucia in Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End. She’s a young beauty in the new movie and appears to be Prit’s lover.
Vazquez’s filmography is a range of English and Spanish titles on both the small and big screen. Some of her best works include Palm Trees in the Snow, Welcome to Eden, En tu cabeza and El accidente.
5) Jesus Lloveras as the Spanish Prime Minister
The Spanish actor, who won Best Actor for Day Release at the Long Island International Film Expo in 2015, joins the Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End cast as the Spanish Prime Minister.
Lloveras has worked on over 50 titles, which are mostly films and TV mini series. Outside of Day Release, some of his works are El mate de Morphy, Messi and the 2023 release Accidental Surrogate for the Alpha.
6) Marta Poveda as Belen
The Spanish actress, who won the Best Supporting Actress for playing the character of Marta in Casting at the 2013 Malaga Spanish Film Festival, plays Belen in the upcoming movie.
Poveda is best known for playing Lorena de la Cruz in Mercado Central TV show and La Lopez in La pecera de Eva. Her other works on the big screen include The Replacement, The Tip of the Iceberg and Viento Sur.
7) Ali Boulabiar as Kamil
The French actor, who played Sam in the 2022 TV series On noir, returns to the silver screen to play Kamil in the Prime Video feature Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End.
Boulabiar has worked on a handful of projects like Compatible, Coexister, Aladdin 2 and Elyas. He also plays Cheick in the newly released TV series Miskina, la pauvre.
