Let Go (2024) on Netflix: Full list of cast

Let Go is a Swedish film directed and written by Josephine Bornebusch. The family drama focuses on an estranged married couple trying to reconnect with each other and their two children, son Manne and daughter Anna, during a long trip. The film is produced by Sofie Palage and executive produced by Johan Hedman.

Let Go is scheduled to release on Netflix on November 1, 2024. The film’s official logline, as per Netflix, reads:

“A jaded mother makes a last-ditch effort to keep her family together by taking them on a trip to their teenage daughter’s pole dancing competition.”

Josephine Bornebusch plays the film’s protagonist, Stella. She plans a spontaneous trip with her husband, Gustav, and their two children to try and bring the disconnected family together.

In March 2023, Josephine spoke to Netflix about writing the movie:

“I have a penchant for writing about recognition, families, and life in its most ordinary moments – with all that it entails. Sorrow, happiness, love, and betrayal.”

The multi-talented Josephine has written, directed, and starred in television shows like Solsidan, Harmonica, Love Me, and the 2020 romance film Orca.

Furthermore, she has acted in other shows like Welcome to Sweden, Rachel och Jossan: Utan filter, and the hit soap opera Rederiet. Her film credits include Sunny Side, Raspberry Boat Refugee, Love and Lemons, and LasseMajas detektivbyrå – Det första mysteriet.


2) Pål Sverre Hagen as Gustav

Pål Sverre Hagen plays Stella’s emotionally absent husband, Gustav, in the film. He blames his wife for their marital problems and suggests they get a divorce.

Known to be among Scandinavia’s most talented actors, Pål gained widespread recognition for his role as the renowned explorer Thor Heyerdahl in Kon-Tiki. The historical drama was nominated for the ‘Best Foreign Language Film’ Oscar in 2013.

He has also given noteworthy performances in the films Troubled Water, The Middle Man, and two of Hans Petter Moland’s thrillers, In Order of Disappearance and A Conspiracy of Faith.

Additionally, Pål has appeared in television shows like Buzz Aldrin, hvor ble det av deg i alt mylderet?, the Scandinavian noir Valkyrien, and Netflix’s War Sailor. In 2019, he played the lead role of William Bergvik in Exit, which became one of the most-watched shows in Scandinavia.


3) Sigrid Johnson as Anna

Sigrid Johnson plays Stella and Gustav’s teenage daughter, Anna, who struggles to connect with her parents. She participates in a pole dancing competition, and her family makes the nine-hour journey to watch her, hoping the trip will help them bond.

Sigrid has starred in comedy films like For Better and Worse, Morran & Tobias – Som en skänk från ovan, and the drama film, Comedy Queen, by Sanna Lenken. Moreover, she also voiced the character of Tuija in A Christmas Tale in 2021.

On television, she has appeared in the crime drama Murder in Sweden and Henrik Björn’s thriller Jordskott. Her other television credits include Finaste familjen, Jana – Marked for Life, Beck, and Heden.


4) Tone Danielsen as Astrid

Tone Danielsen plays the role of Astrid in Netflix’s Let Go.

The veteran Norwegian actress has worked extensively in theaters, films, and television shows in her decades-long career. Her most prominent films are 22 July, The Good Human of Seuzan, Reprise, Troubled Water, The King’s Choice, and Dag Johan Haugerud’s dark comedy, Barn.

Moreover, she has acted in television shows like Purk, Acquitted, Norwegian Cozy, and Borgen skole, as well as the horror series Dauinger and the fantasy series Jul i Blåfjell.
