“Stop worshipping celebrities” – Internet reacts as Jennifer Aniston announces she voted for Kamala Harris
Actress Jennifer Anniston recently revealed that she voted blue in the U.S. presidential elections. The Friends star took to her Instagram on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, to announce she “proudly voted for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”
“Today not only did I vote for access to health care, for reproductive freedom, for equal rights, for safe schools, and for a fair economy, but also for SANITY and HUMAN DECENCY,” she wrote.
As news of Anniston’s post spread, internet users were quick to react. One urged people to stop getting influenced by celebrities, stating:
“Stop worshipping celebrities, kids.”
Many spoke against the actress, stating she was just another millionaire who wouldn’t be affected by the economic situation. Here are some comments seen under her IG post:
Others commented in her support, praising her for using her platform to raise awareness.
“GOOD LORD aren’t you tired of this negativity towards each other?”- Jennifer Anniston urged people to vote
Jennifer Anniston’s Instagram post also included a picture of the actress showing off her “I Voted” sticker. Telling her followers that their votes and voices matter, she continued:
“I know we don’t agree on everything, and that is the beauty of this country, but GOOD LORD aren’t you tired of this negativity towards each other? The intimidation and constant threats to those who do not think the same as the other?”
The We’re The Millers actress explained that it was important to choose wisely to end the “fear, chaos, and the attack” on democracy. She urged people to “vote for someone who (would) unite” everyone and not “continue to threaten and divide” everyone.
Jennifer Aniston praised the American democracy, stating, “we are so lucky we get to VOTE.” She added that the elections were just a week away and urged everyone to talk to their family and friends to vote and “find out way back to each other with respect, common cause, and LOVE.”
This is not the first time the actress has criticized the republican ticket. In July, she slammed JD Vance for his comments about women who haven’t given birth, made in 2021. At the time, a clip from Vance’s appearance on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News program went viral. It showed him call Kamala Harris and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives” and have no stake in the country’s future.
Jennifer Anniston took to her Instagram stories to write:
“I truly can’t believe this is coming from a potential VP of The United States. All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear childern of her own one day. I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”
Jennifer Anniston is not the only A-lister to endorse Kamala Harris. Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Arnold Schwarzenegger have all come out in support of the US Vice President. While endorsing Kamala Harris, Swift signed off her post saying, “Taylor Swift Childless Cat Lady.”
US Presidential elections are scheduled for November 5.
