Overwatch 2’s Mid-Season Update Brings Back Classic Moth Meta and Hero Tweaks
New game modes, balance changes, and Ashe’s Mythic weapon highlight the latest content drop.
Blizzard has rolled out a substantial mid-season update for Overwatch 2, featuring the return of the iconic Moth Meta, significant hero balance adjustments, and Ashe’s new Lead Rose Mythic weapon skin. The patch introduces multiple game modes and events to keep players engaged through the remainder of Season 14.
The update’s headline features include two distinct 6v6 game modes. The first, running until February 3, is “Min 1, Max 3,” which allows flexible role composition while maintaining the requirement of at least one hero per role. Following this, players can experience the nostalgic Overwatch Classic Moth Meta from February 4 until the season’s end, complete with Mercy’s powerful Resurrect ability, DPS Doomfist, and Symmetra’s Shield Generator.
Several heroes have received balance adjustments in the standard game modes. Ramattra’s base armor has been increased to improve his performance as a brawl tank, while Winston received mixed changes with improved Tesla Cannon capabilities but a higher Ultimate cost. Echo and Tracer got offensive buffs, while Ana and Juno saw their abilities slightly toned down.
The update also brings two back-to-back events. The Year of the Snake celebration runs through February 3, featuring Mischief & Magic, Capture the Flag, and Bounty Hunter modes. This will be followed by a Valentine’s Day event highlighting Cupid Hanzo’s Love of Geometry mode.
For collectors, the new Lead Rose Mythic weapon for Ashe is now available in the Mythic Shop, offering four levels of unlocks. Players interested in obtaining 2024’s Jade Weapon Variants should act quickly, as these items will become unavailable when Season 15 begins on February 18.
A new feature called Maximilien’s Vault has been introduced, offering rotating discounted premium cosmetics that players can purchase with Overwatch Coins. The shop provides an opportunity for players to acquire rare skins at reduced prices.
