Synth Beasts Brings Monster-Taming Action to Nintendo’s Next Generation

Swiss developer Radhood has revealed that their upcoming action RPG Synth Beasts will be released for Nintendo’s next-generation console. The game combines monster-taming mechanics with real-time combat, offering a fresh take on the creature collection genre.

Initially unveiled in May 2023, Synth Beasts distinguishes itself from traditional monster-collecting games by featuring an action-based combat system within an open-world environment. Players will be able to collect and train approximately 40 different creatures at launch, each possessing unique abilities that aid in world exploration.

The game’s multiplatform release will include the current Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Steam users can already add the title to their wishlist, while other platform storefronts will follow suit. Radhood has set their sights on a Q2 2025 launch window for all versions.

In addition to the main campaign, Synth Beasts will feature a randomizer mode that becomes available after completing the game once, designed to enhance replayability. The development team has also announced plans for a Kickstarter campaign in Q1 2025, which could potentially lead to additional content and creatures being added to the game.

The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer showcasing both previously revealed and new gameplay footage, highlighting the game’s dynamic combat system and diverse creature designs. A particularly notable feature is how each monster’s abilities can be utilized for environmental traversal, adding an extra layer of strategy to exploration.

Synth Beasts joins Bestiario as one of the early RPGs confirmed for Nintendo’s next-generation hardware, though the latter isn’t expected to launch until late 2026. While Nintendo continues to arrange preview events for their new console through early June 2025, specific hardware release details remain under wraps.
