Ubisoft Files New Trademark for Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc

Ubisoft has filed a new trademark application for Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, as reported by Rayman Together! on Twitter. The filing, submitted in September 2024, renews the company’s rights to the classic action-adventure title originally released in 2003.

The trademark renewal comes more than a decade after the game’s HD remaster, which launched in 2012. Industry analysts note that while such filings are standard practice for maintaining intellectual property rights, they don’t necessarily indicate immediate plans for game development or re-releases.

Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc represents a significant chapter in the long-running franchise, which began in 1995 on PlayStation 1 and Atari systems. The series has maintained a distinctive visual style and challenging gameplay mechanics throughout its various iterations, with the third installment receiving particular praise upon its initial release.

Ubisoft has previously demonstrated willingness to revisit its classic titles through remasters, as evidenced by updated versions of Far Cry 3 and Assassin’s Creed 3 in 2018. The company’s extensive catalog includes numerous successful franchises, from Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell series to Prince of Persia, though not all titles receive modern adaptations.

The Rayman franchise has experienced varying degrees of success across its releases, with titles like Rayman Legends achieving critical acclaim while others, such as Rayman: Hoodlums’ Revenge, faced mixed reception. The series’ reputation for combining challenging gameplay with distinctive artistry positions it uniquely among gaming classics from its era.
