MultiVersus Sets May 2025 Closure Date as Online Services End
Warner Bros. Games announces final shutdown date for MultiVersus, with transition to offline-only gameplay.
Warner Bros. Games has announced the upcoming closure of MultiVersus, with online services scheduled to terminate on May 30, 2025, at 9 AM PST / 12 PM EST. The free-to-play fighting game, which officially launched in May 2024, will cease in-game purchases on January 31, 2025, marking the beginning of its final operational phase.
The decision comes after the game accumulated losses exceeding $100 million by late 2024, despite strong initial engagement during its early access phase and official launch. Warner Bros. Games cited “careful consideration” in their official announcement, confirming the game’s removal from digital storefronts across all platforms when online services conclude.
Players retaining unused Gleamium balance or character tokens can continue to unlock content through the end of Season 5, though no new monetary transactions will be processed after January 31.
Offline Play Options and Final Season Details
While online functionality will cease, Warner Bros. Games confirms MultiVersus will remain playable in offline mode following the May shutdown. Players can access single-player matches against AI opponents and participate in local co-op sessions supporting up to four players. To ensure continued offline access, users must download the final version and log in at least once during Season 5, which begins February 4 at 9 AM PST / 12 PM EST.
The game’s final season introduces Aquaman as a Battle Pass tier reward and Lola Bunny as a daily calendar login bonus. Season 5’s content structure ensures all items remain unlockable through gameplay, providing players with complete access to new content before the transition to offline-only status.
