Spider-Man 2’s PC Launch Prompts Immediate Technical Update

The PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has received its first technical update just one day after its release, addressing critical performance issues reported by players. The rapid response follows user feedback indicating significant technical challenges with the newly launched port.

Player reception of the PC version has been mixed, with approximately 45% of Steam reviews expressing dissatisfaction due to technical difficulties. Users have reported various graphical glitches and system crashes, even on computers meeting the recommended specifications. The most prominent issues occur when players enable ray-tracing features.

The emergency update, designated as Hotfix v1.31.0.0, specifically targets device hang crashes related to ray-tracing functionality. Nixxes, the developer responsible for the PC port, has published details of the update on Steam and established a dedicated support channel for ongoing issue reporting.

Despite these initial setbacks, the PC version introduces several technical enhancements over its PlayStation 5 counterpart, including support for Nvidia’s DLSS Ray Reconstruction and Intel XeSS upscaling technologies. These features are designed to improve visual quality while maintaining performance on compatible systems.

The release represents part of Sony’s broader strategy to expand its PlayStation exclusive titles to PC platforms. The company has already successfully ported previous entries in the series, including Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, both released in 2022. Nixxes has committed to monitoring player feedback and implementing additional updates as necessary to improve the gaming experience.
