Blizzard Issues Refunds for Mistakenly Sold Overwatch 2 Skin
Gaming company addresses accidental sale of Cyber DJ Lucio skin intended as free content.
Blizzard Entertainment has initiated automatic refunds to Overwatch 2 players who purchased the Cyber DJ Lucio skin, following the discovery that the item was mistakenly made available for sale. The skin, which was intended to be distributed as a free Twitch drop, appeared in the game’s shop as part of a purchasable bundle, prompting swift action from the developer.
The error came to light when players learned that the premium cosmetic would be offered as a free Twitch drop less than 24 hours after its shop debut. Community reaction was immediate, with many expressing frustration over purchasing an item that would soon be available at no cost.
Addressing the situation, Blizzard Community Specialist blizz_kaedi confirmed on the r/Competitiveoverwatch subreddit that the skin’s shop appearance was unintentional. “All players who purchased the skin have been automatically refunded,” the specialist stated, though some users may experience a delay in receiving their Overwatch Coins back.
The Cyber DJ Lucio skin is now scheduled for its intended release on February 12 as part of the Overwatch 2 Spotlight event. During this upcoming livestream event, players will have the opportunity to obtain the skin for free through Twitch drops, alongside the newly announced Flirty Flare Baptiste skin. The event will showcase new content and major gameplay updates planned for the game’s future, featuring presentations from various Overwatch 2 content creators.
