Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Ancient Tomb Map Unveils Mysterious Underground Horrors

Treyarch is raising the stakes for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 with their upcoming Zombies map, “The Tomb.” Set to launch with Season 2 on January 28, this archaeological nightmare promises to take players deep into cursed catacombs where ancient horrors await.

Following the events of Citadelle des Morts, players will join Weaver, Maya, Carver, and Grey as they venture into a mysterious dig site with a recently acquired amulet. Their mission leads them through ancient catacombs in search of the enigmatic Sentinel Artifact, within halls that have witnessed centuries of unexplained phenomena.

The map’s journey begins at the Dig Site, characterized by peculiar glowing runes and branching paths. Players can explore the Neolithic Catacombs, decorated with primitive cave paintings that hint at forgotten civilizations, or brave the Ossuary’s grim corridors lined with human remains and ritualistic altars.

The Tomb’s Ancient Architecture Hides Dark Secrets

Further within, the Tombs section showcases immaculate architecture where sunlight pierces through ceiling apertures, illuminating statues of ancient warriors and intricate wall carvings depicting hoplites in combat with charging bulls. The candlelit Shrine of the Hierophants serves as a mysterious resting place for historical figures, leading to the connected Subterranean Temple and Deep Excavation areas, where scattered pillars surround an otherworldly place of worship.

Two final areas await the bravest explorers: the cryptic Doorway to Nowhere and the Dark Aether Nexus. While details remain scarce, the Dark Aether Nexus likely holds the key to freeing Samantha Maxis from her dimensional prison. For those seeking a more manageable challenge, the Directed Mode caps the experience at round 15.

The new map introduces the Shock Mimic, a deceptive enemy that masquerades as useful items before attacking with electrified claws. These creatures can disorient players with distortion camouflage and disrupt radar systems. To combat these threats, players can utilize powerful weapons like the Ray Gun, while the classic PPSh-41 submachine gun and Death Perception Perk-A-Cola make their anticipated return.
