Microsoft’s Fable Reportedly Planned for PS5 Day-One Release
Spanish gaming site claims Microsoft’s upcoming Fable reboot may launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5.
Microsoft‘s highly anticipated Fable reboot, previously confirmed for PC and Xbox Series X/S, may also launch on PlayStation 5 on day one, according to new reports. The information emerges as Microsoft continues to expand its gaming presence beyond traditional platform boundaries.
The claim originates from Vandal, a prominent Spanish gaming publication, suggesting a significant shift from the franchise’s traditional Xbox exclusivity. This development aligns with recent statements from Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer about “evolving” the Xbox brand by bringing first-party titles to a broader audience.
Industry insider Jez Corden from Windows Central had previously suggested that while Fable might not launch immediately on PS5, it would likely arrive on the platform eventually to offset development costs. However, these new reports indicate a more aggressive multi-platform strategy, potentially making the game available across all major platforms from launch.
The Fable series, which began as an Xbox exclusive in 2004, represents a significant piece of Microsoft’s gaming portfolio. The upcoming reboot, developed by Playground Games, promises to modernize the franchise while maintaining its characteristic humor and satirical take on fairy tales. First revealed during the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase, the game showcased updated visuals and gameplay mechanics.
While Microsoft has not officially confirmed these reports, more information is expected to emerge after the February release of Avowed, another major Xbox title. Fable’s launch is currently scheduled for 2025, with specific timing yet to be announced.
