Warhorse Studios Sets Record Straight About Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Controversy
Studio director addresses rumors surrounding the medieval RPG’s pre-orders and content decisions.
Warhorse Studios has stepped forward to address recent controversies surrounding Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, with studio co-founder Daniel Vávra dismissing claims about declining pre-orders for the upcoming medieval RPG. The game, scheduled for release in February 2025, promises an expansive world twice the size of its predecessor and continues Henry’s story amid a civil war in medieval Europe.
The controversy emerged following discussions about the game’s inclusive content, with some online personalities claiming mass pre-order cancellations. Vávra directly challenged these assertions by sharing sales data, confirming that the ratio between sold copies and returns has remained consistent. He attributed any perceived changes in the game’s chart position to natural fluctuations in preview hype and the release of several heavily discounted competing titles.
Addressing the broader controversy, Vávra emphasized that Warhorse Studios maintains full creative control over the game’s content. He expressed frustration with the spread of misinformation, noting that some claims, such as reports about the game being banned in Saudi Arabia, were entirely unfounded. The studio confirmed that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 faces no restrictions in any country.
The development team has also clarified several gameplay elements, confirming that players maintain control over relationship choices within the game. Vávra dismissed claims about unskippable cutscenes, suggesting such misconceptions likely came from players unfamiliar with the original game’s mechanics.
